Fear of Success

I was skimming the new book, Go, when I found the author's statement that the only barrier to our success is us. Over the years, I learned that this is true. The barriers aren't out there, they are within.

The Catastrophe of Success
I've been wondering why my business hasn't grown more and why I feel more burned out. A voice came out of my unconscious that said: "I'm afraid success might consume me."

We've all seen people devoured by success: Anna Nichole, Jim Belushi.

But we've also seen people whose success seems to feed them and nourish them like Oprah.

The Cure For Fear of Success
If you believe success will consume you, it will. So you'll avoid or limit your success.

If you believe that success will nourish you, it will. So you'll find a way to succeed in ways that energize you.

I used the walking belief change in Debug Your Mental Software to change my limiting belief (success consumes me) to an empowering belief (success nourishes me). I can't tell you how much better it feels. I don't know how it will play out over time, but I know it will be different.

Here's My Point
If you're not getting what you want out of life: relationships, income, job, or whatever, it might be a limiting belief. Or you might fear that getting what you want will cost you dearly in some other, more important aspect of your life.

Ask yourself: What am I afraid will happen if I get what I want? How have I limited my success by believing this?

Change your beliefs so that they support you. It's so easy you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
